Rockies optioned C Braxton Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque; Reassigned INF Nicky Lopez, INF/OF Chad Stevens and LHP Parker Mushinski to minor league camp.
No real surprises among this batch of cuts for the Rockies. These moves get them down to 36 players remaining in major league camp as we inch closer to Opening Day. Look for them to finalize their roster in the coming days. Chad Stevens went 3-for-3 with a homer as the Rockies downed the A’s 11-6 on Friday.
All three balls in play left his bat at 110-111 mph, according to Statcast. Stevens, 27, made his major league debut with the Angels last seaosn, going 2-for-13 with seven strikeouts in five games. He showed some power in hitting 18 homers in 126 games for Triple-A Salt Lake last year, and he offers versatility throughout the infield. He should be in the running for a spot on Colorado’s bench if he keeps hitting.

The 26-year-old middle infielder went 2-for-13 with seven strikeouts in his first taste of the big leagues. He’s put up some huge numbers at the Triple-A level this year, but isn’t quite ready to make an impact for the Angels.

It’s the first trip to the big leagues for Stevens — an 11th-round selection by the Astros from the 2021 draft class.
