Braves signed INF Charles LeBlanc to a minor league contract.
LeBlanc spent most of 2023 in Triple-A for the Angels, hitting .254/.379/.437 with 12 home runs and a 16.4 percent walk rate in 98 games. A former fourth-round pick by the Rangers, LeBlanc has slashed .254/.330/.412 in 197 big league games and will serve as veteran organizational depth in Atlanta.
  • FA Shortstop #33
    Charles LeBlanc elected free agency.
LeBlanc was sent outright to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, and the 28-year-old will hit the open market. He’s assuredly looking at a minor-league contract as his next deal for a team in need of infield depth.
  • LAA 2nd Baseman #38
Angels sent INF Michael Stefanic, RHP Carson Fulmer, INF Charles Leblanc, INF Jack López outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
It’s the first outright assignment for Stefanic, who made his MLB debut for the Angels in July 2022 and was up and down several times since. He hit .232/.317/.275 in 264 plate appearances over 2 1/2 seasons. Of the three infielders here, Leblanc probably has the best chance of helping a team. The Angels, though, gave him just 28 plate appearances, in which he homered twice and walked seven times.
  • LAA Shortstop #33
Angels optioned 3B Charles Leblanc to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Leblanc was hitting .190/.393/.476 in 28 plate appearances. He had just four hits, but two of those were homers, and he walked seven times.
  • LAA Shortstop #33
Angels recalled INF Charles Leblanc from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Leblanc was brought up on Sunday as an extra bench bat for Los Angeles for the final few weeks of the regular season. The 28-year-old infielder has gotten into a pair of contests this year in the big leagues.
  • LAA Shortstop #33
Angels optioned INF Charles Leblanc to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Leblanc went 1-for-6 in two games with the Angels. He could get another look during Anthony Rendon’s next IL stint.
  • LAA Shortstop #62
Angels selected the contract of INF Charles LeBlanc from Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 28-year-old infielder has spent the entire season thus far at Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting .262/.382/.472 with 12 homers, 48 RBI and four stolen bases in 343 plate appearances. He’ll add infield depth for the Halos with Luis Rengifo (wrist) heading to the injured list.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #46
Angels optioned RHPs Jimmy Herget and Davis Daniel and LHP Kenny Rosenberg to Triple-A Salt Lake; reassigned INF Hunter Dozier, RHP Carson Fulmer and INF Charles Leblanc to minor league camp.
There are some pretty notable inclusions among the latest batch of cuts from Angels camp with Herget the likely headliner. The 30-year-old righty has made 92 appearances for the Halos over the last three years. Dozier was in camp on a minor league pact and figured to have a decent shot at making the season-opening roster in a bench role.
  • LAA 2nd Baseman #61
Angels signed INF Charles Leblanc to a minor league contract.
Leblanc played in the majors in 2022, where he slashed .263/.320/.404 across 169 plate appearances for the Marlins. The 27-year-old spent last season with Triple-A Jacksonville hitting .252/.384/.423 with 12 homers and four stolen bases across 370 plate appearances for Triple-A Jacksonville. He will add much-needed infield depth to the upper levels of the Angels’ organization.
  • Shortstop #33
Charles Leblanc made his spring debut Sunday, going 1-for-3 with a walk against the Mets.
Leblanc had been sidelined by back stiffness. He entered camp as a long shot to make the Marlins, and his absence assured that he’ll be Triple-A bound for the start of the year.
