The Jays needed to free up a spot on their active roster for the addition of Matt Waldron on Friday and unfortunately for Lee he was the odd man out this time. The 27-year-old righty compiled a 5.06 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 2/5 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings in five appearances with the Jays.

The Jays went on to win in 10, with Chase Lee, who benefitted from a big baserunning error, picking up his first save. Varland was pitching for the first time since throwing 31 pitches and taking a loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
