Diamondbacks RHP Christian Montes De Oca elected free agency.
Montes De Oca went unclaimed on waivers and will test the open market rather than accept an outright assignment. The 26-year-old righty made exactly one relief appearance last season for the Diamondbacks prior to undergoing back surgery.

Diamondbacks sent RHP Christian Montes De Oca outright to Triple-A Reno.
Montes De Oca passed through waivers unclaimed after losing his spot on Arizona’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old righty made exactly one relief appearance last season for the Diamondbacks prior to undergoing back surgery.

Diamondbacks transferred RHP Christian Montes De Oca from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Montes De Oca recently underwent back surgery, and is out for the foreseeable future. He’ll be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list at the beginning of August, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready to roll when that occurs.

Christian Montes De Oca will undergo surgery on his back according to Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.
The surgery could cost Montes De Oca the rest of his season. The 25-year-old was placed on the injured list June 10 with inflammation in his back, and at the very best, the right-hander won’t be back for the Diamondbacks’ bullpen until near the end of the summer.

Diamondbacks placed RHP Christian Montes De Oca on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Montes De Oca will presumably undergo some additional testing to determine the severity of the issue after suffering the injury on Monday. The 25-year-old righty is likely facing an extended absence, even in a best-case scenario.

Christian Montes De Oca will undergo an MRI on his elbow on Tuesday.
Montes De Oca was with Arizona over the weekend but didn’t pitch. He was briefly sent back to Triple-A but then recalled on Monday when Kendall Graveman went on the IL. However, Montes De Oca felt discomfort in his elbow on Monday and was not available to pitch. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said, “his concern is high.” We’ll have to wait for the MRI results to know more, but the Arizona bullpen is not in good shape right now.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Christian Montes De Oca from Triple-A Reno.
Montes De Oca was up with Arizona over the weekend, but didn’t make an appearance. The 25-year-old takes over Kendall Graveman’s spot in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen after posting a solid 4.07 ERA across 24 1/3 innings (17 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Cristian Montes de Oca will serve as the 27th player for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Reds.
It’s technically a twin bill with both clubs allowed to bring up an extra player following the resumption of Friday’s suspended game. Montes de Oca joins Arizona’s bullpen for Saturday’s regularly scheduled contest against the Reds. The 25-year-old righty was up briefly last month, but didn’t end up making an appearance. He’s posted a serviceable 4.07 ERA across 24 1/3 innings (17 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Diamondbacks optioned RHP Christian Montes De Oca to Triple-A Reno.
The 25-year-old hurler spent nearly a week in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen but didn’t end up getting into a ballgame to make his big league debut. He’ll go back to dominating hitters at the Triple-A level while he waits for another opportunity. Look for the D-backs to make a corresponding move prior to Friday’s game against the Cardinals.

Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Christian Montes De Oca from Triple-A Reno.
The 25-year-old right-hander had been dominating at the Triple-A level, posting a 2.37 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 17/4 K/BB ratio over 19 innings while recording one save. He replaces the underperforming Joe Mantiply in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen and could work his way into the late-inning mix if he acclimates himself well.
