Dodgers acquired RHP prospect Christian Zazueta Jr. from the Yankees to compete the Caleb Ferguson trade.
Zazueta is a 19-year-old prospect who posted a 3.29 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 50/16 K/BB ratio in 52 innings in the Dominican Summer League last year. While he’s obviously a long way from the major leagues, he has an intriguing pitch mix with a loopier curve ball and a swing-and-miss change-up. He gets good movement on his fastball, but he’ll need to add more to his upper-80’s velocity in order to have a chance of sticking, but he certainly has the frame to do so as he gets stronger.
