Alexander, 29, has seen brief major league action the last two years, going 4-for-25 for the Royals and A’s. He spent time in Triple-A for the A’s, Yankees and Dodgers last year, hitting .254/.335/.448 with 15 homers in 466 plate appearances. He doesn’t seem like a threat to make the Astros out of spring training.

Alexander went unclaimed on waivers after being removed from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster earlier this week. The 28-year-old infielder will remain at Triple-A Oklahoma City as emergency depth for the Dodgers.

Alexander has been jettisoned from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster just a couple days after being claimed off waivers from the Yankees. The 28-year-old infielder didn’t appear in a game for the Dodgers.

The Bombers tried to slide the 28-year-old infielder through waivers after he was designated for assignment earlier in the week but the Dodgers were ready to pounce. Alexander has hit .239/.338/.439 with 10 homers, 36 RBI and a 63/31 K/BB ratio over 237 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add infield depth in the upper minors for the Dodgers.

Alexander winds up losing his spot on New York’s 40-man roster with the club signing journeyman reliever Geoff Hartlieb to replace an injured Fernando Cruz (oblique) ahead of Monday’s critical showdown against the Blue Jays. He figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and remain with the Yankees as organizational depth.

Alexander will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as extra organizational infield depth. The 28-year-old went 3-for-17 with eight strikeouts over six games during a brief stint with the Athletics.

One day after being demoted off the active roster, the A’s removed Alexander from the 40-man roster to reinstate Michael Kelly off the suspended list. Alexander will hit the waiver wire, and could see interest for a team needing added infield depth.

Alexander earns a trip back to the minors after going 3-for-17 with eight strikeouts over six games in his Athletics debut. The 28-year-old infielder has hit .160 (4-for-25) with zero extra-base hits across 10 games in the majors over the last two seasons.

It seems like Alexander will get the first opportunity to be the primary first baseman in Sacramento with Nick Kurtz on the IL. Alexander, who is a left-handed hitter, was recalled earlier in the week and sat against two lefties over the weekend before getting these last two starts. He was hitting .252/.348/.509 with 10 homers and 33 RBI in 42 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, so he’s not likely to be a fantasy option outside of AL-only leagues.

Alexander will provide the Athletics with some infield depth on their bench as Gio Urshela (hamstring) lands on the injured list on Friday. The 28-year-old was hitting .252/.348/.509 with 10 homers, 33 RBI and a pair of stolen bases through his first 42 games with Triple-A Las Vegas. He’ll battle with Miguel Andujar and Max Schuemann for playing time at third base with Urshela shelved.
