The Rangers reportedly have placed Colby Lewis on outright waivers.
Lewis might not be ready until the middle of next season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, but it would still be a surprise to see him clear waivers. There are no shortage of pitching coaches that would love the chance to work with a healthy Lewis.

The Rangers have ruled out any nerve damage in Colby Lewis’ right shoulder, and are awaiting vascular test results to determine if they can go ahead with rotator cuff surgery.
If no further problems are found in Lewis’ shoulder, he will undergo a season-ending procdeure to repair a torn rotator cuff. Lewis would be fully recovered in time for spring training next season.

Colby Lewis, who has not won in over a month, may have his next start moved up to Tuesday.
It’s all part of a grand scheme. Doug Glanville is expected to come off the disabled list on Wednesday. If Lewis struggles Tuesday, he’d be sent back to Triple-A to make room on the roster. If he pitches well, he’d stick around and someone else would go. OK, maybe it’s not so grand after all.

Colby Lewis is expected to be placed on the DL today with shoulder soreness.
Ryan Snare will be called up to take his roster spot, and Joaquin Benoit will start Saturday’s game. The results of Lewis’ exam Sunday revealed “just what we thought: he needs some rest,” manager Buck Showalter said. “He had this three or four years ago. They don’t think there’s anything structurally wrong. He needs to let it quiet down. We’re going to take the safe route early in the season.”

Texas manager Buck Showalter says the final 3 spots in the rotation are wide open.
Colby Lewis and Ricardo Rodriguez are the favorites for two spots, but they’ll have to earn it. R.A Dickey, Mickey Callaway, Ryan Drese, Glendon Rusch and Joaquin Benoit are other candidates. Rodriguez is the only one with any fantasy potential this season.
