Jesse Winker (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville.
Winker will be joined by teammates Blake Perkins and Darin Ruf as well. The trio are attempting to make their way back to Milwaukee before the regular season wraps up, but the clock is ticking, and there isn’t exactly a clear path to at-bats for any of them at the moment. They should be up for postseason roster spots, if the Brewers get there.

The Brewers announced Monday that Darin Ruf is dealing with a non-displaced fracture of his right knee -- in addition to the deep laceration that initially landed him on the injured list.
Hence, the move to the 60-day IL on Monday. The injury comes with a 6-to-8 week recovery timeframe, which means that Ruf won’t be ready to rejoin the Brewers until sometime after the All-Star break.

Brewers transferred 1B Darin Run from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Milwaukee’s 40-man roster for third baseman Luis Urías to return from the 60-day injured list. Ruf will now be out until August after suffering a right knee laceration last Friday.

Brewers placed 1B Darin Ruf on the 10-day injured list with a right knee laceration.
Ruf suffered a right knee laceration during Friday’s game against the Reds that ultimately wound up requiring stitches. He’s going to wind up missing some time, but should be able to return in a few weeks, if not sooner.

  • FA 1st Baseman #25
Darin Ruf suffered a right knee laceration during Friday’s contest against the Reds.
Ruf sustained the injury when he crashed into the tarp while chasing down a foul ball in the third inning. It doesn’t sound like anything that should require a trip to the injured list, so he should be considered day-to-day unless we hear otherwise.

Darin Ruf was pulled from Friday’s game against the Reds with an apparent injury.
Ruf crashed into the tarp while chasing down a foul ball in the third inning and was replaced by Rowdy Tellez. Expect the Brewers to provide an update on his status as soon as one becomes available.

  • FA 1st Baseman #25
Brewers signed 1B/OF Darin Ruf to a one-year contract.
Ruf was designated for assignment by the Giants last week and elected to explore the free agent market rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento. With Luke Voit (neck) heading to the injured list, Ruf will fill the lefty-mashing platoon role at first base for the Brewers. He has hit .261/.370/.348 with no homers and three RBI in 23 at-bats at the big league level this season.

  • FA 1st Baseman #25
Darin Ruf has elected free agency.
Ruf has refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento and opted to explore free agency instead. He was fairly impressive in his brief stint with the Giants -- he had an average exit velocity of 97 mph on his 14 batted balls -- so someone might add him as a platoon guy against lefties.

  • FA 1st Baseman #25
Giants activated 1B/OF Darin Ruf from the 10-day injured list, designated him for assignment.
The move clears a spot for Casey Schmitt on the 40-man roster. This marks the second time Ruf has been designated for assignment since late-March. He hit .261/.370/.348 over 27 plate appearances in his return to the Giants.

Darin Ruf (wrist) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old slugger has been shelved since April 24 due to inflammation in his wrist. Even when he is healthy though, it’s unclear if there will be a spot available for him on the active roster with Joc Pederson, Mitch Haniger and Austin Slater now healthy.
