Marlins optioned LHP Dax Fulton to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Fulton threw four innings and allowed two runs against the Orioles in his one day with the Marlins. He’s being swapped out for a fresh arm now, but he might get a real look out of the pen at some point. An opportunity in the rotation will be harder to come by.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #90
Marlins recalled LHP Dax Fulton from Triple-A Jacksonville.
This is not the left-handed pitching prospect that many people expected the Marlins to call up from Triple-A; however, the Marlins have said that Fulton will pitch out of the bullpen. Miami doesn’t need a starting pitcher until Friday, so Fulton will operate out of the bullpen until then. The 24-year-old has a 7.65 ERA in 20 innings at Triple-A this season. If he gets into a game, it will be his MLB debut.

Marlins optioned LHP Dax Fulton, RHPs Will Kempner and Josh White, INFs Deyvision De Los Santos and Jared Serna to Triple-A Jacksonville; Reassigned RHP Nigel Belgrave and INF Dylan Jasso to minor league camp.
We’re still early enough in camp that teams aren’t faced with difficult decisions just yet, so there are no surprises here. Fulton, 26, had a particularly brutal 2025 season, registering a 5.38 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and a 115/59 K/BB ratio over 103 2/3 innings between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. He’ll continue to operate as extra pitching depth for the Fish.

Marlins optioned RHP Adam Mazur, RHP Luarbart Arias and INF Max Acosta to Triple-A Jacksonville and optioned LHP Dax Fulton and INF Jared Serna to Double-A Pensacola.
Mazur is the most notable name of the cuts, as he was acquired in the deal that shipped Tanner Scott to the Padres back in July. The 23-year-old has a chance to make starts for Miami before the end of 2025.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #90
Marlins selected the contract of LHP Dax Fulton and INF Jared Serna from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Fulton missed all of the 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 campaign. Serna was acquired in the Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade and hit 251/.337/.414 over three levels with 15 homers and 15 stolen bases.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman
Marlins reassigned INF’s Jacob Berry, Joe Rizzo and Troy Johnston, OF Jake Mangum, LHP’s Dylan Bice, Dax Fulton and Robert Garcia and C Jan Mercado to minor league camp.
Berry was the sixth overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft and was in camp for the first time with the Marlins. He’s the most notable inclusion among the first batch of spring cuts for Miami. Rizzo and Mangum might have a shot to contribute at some point this season.

Marlins LHP prospect Dax Fulton hurled 5 2/3 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts on Sunday for HIgh-A Beloit.
Fulton allowed four hits and issued a pair of walks. Missing bats has not been an issue for the 2020 second-round pick, as he’s up to 101 strikeouts in his 77 innings with the Sky Carp. Limiting the production of those who don’t whiff has been a problem, however, as he’s walked 27 and registers a 4.56 ERA in his 16 starts. The ability to miss bats is legit, as Fulton has a plus fastball/curve combination and also shows the makings of a solid change. The command needs work, but that’s true about most 20-year-olds, especially 6-foot-7 ones. Fulton has significant upside, but there’s a wide variety of potential outcomes in his profile.

The Marlins have added prospect left-hander Dax Fulton to their 60-man player pool
Fulton is coming back from Tommy John surgery and will continue his rehab process at the team’s alternate training site. The 18-year-old was the Marlins’ second-round pick in this year’s draft.
