    Cubs sent LHP Doug Nikhazy outright to Triple-A Iowa.

    Nikhazy went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 26-year-old lefty has yet to make an appearance for the Cubs after being claimed off waivers from the White Sox back in late April. He’ll remain stationed at Triple-A Iowa as organizational depth.

    Cubs designated LHP Doug Nikhazy for assignment.

    Nikhazy was claimed off waivers from the White Sox at the end of April but had to be let go to make room on the 40-man roster for Yosver Zulueta. Nikhazy, who never spent any time on the major league roster, posted an 8.44 ERA in 26 2/3 innings at Triple-A for the Cubs in eight appearances (six starts). He will likely go unclaimed on waivers.

    White Sox recalled LHP Doug Nikhazy from Triple-A Charlotte.

    He’ll add a fresh arm that’s capable of working multiple innings to a White Sox’ bullpen that has been taxed recently. Nikhazy was off to a solid start at the Triple-A level, posting a 3.52 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 10/3 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 innings in his first two starts.
