Drew Gilbert went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer in a blowout win for the Giants on Monday over the Rockies.
Gilbert followed up a three-hit night against the Orioles on Sunday with his first four-hit effort in the majors. The 24-year-old has gone deep twice in his 46 at-bats since being promoted early in August, and he’s now hitting .261 with a .500 slugging percentage. This is a former first-round pick who was on several top prospect lists, so he’s at the very least someone fantasy managers should be paying attention to for the 2026 campaign.

Drew Gilbert went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three RBI on Sunday as the Giants routed the Orioles in San Francisco.
The 24-year-old rookie outfielder reached on an infield single in the third inning and scored on an RBI knock by Rafael Devers. He then smacked a two-run triple the following inning that extended the Giants’ lead to 6-0 and scored on an RBI single by Heliot Ramos. Gilbert also delivered an RBI double in the eighth inning that made it 13-0. With his three-hit attack, he’s now slashing .190/.190/.381 with one homer, seven RBI, one stolen base and a 10/0 K/BB ratio in his first 42 plate appearances.

Heliot Ramos is not in the Giants’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Orioles.
It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 25-year-old outfielder. Luis Matos will slide over to cover left field while Drew Gilbert will draw a start in right field for the Giants and will bat ninth against Orioles’ right-hander Dean Kremer.

Drew Gilbert went 2-for-4 and blasted the first home run of his big league career on Sunday afternoon, helping to propel the Giants to victory over the Rays.
The 24-year-old outfielder led off the seventh inning with a 384-foot (102.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Mason Englert that extended the Giants’ lead to 5-0. He also tacked on a run-scoring single in the eighth inning that made it a 7-1 ballgame. With his two-hit attack, Gilbert is now hitting .136 (3-for-22) with a homer, two RBI and a stolen base in his limited action with the Giants.

Drew Gilbert went 0-for-3 on Wednesday, leaving him 1-for-17 through six big-league games.
It’s still very early, but Gilbert has reached base only once and has yet to hit a ball harder than 99 mph. The Giants have little to lose by sticking with him, but they might want to send him back to Triple-A if remains overmatched.

Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Friday that Jerar Encarnacion has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain.
That means the 27-year-old slugger is going to be out for a while. The Giants estimate that he’ll miss four-to-six weeks with the injury and it’s possible if he has any setbacks that he may miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Drew Gilbert was promoted to take his place on the roster on Friday and now he may have some runway to carve out a legitimate role.

Giants selected the contract of OF Drew Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento.
Gilbert will take the place of the injured Jerar Encarnacion (hamstring) on the Giants’ active roster. The 24-year-old joined the Giants just before the trade deadline as part of the return package for Tyler Rogers. He had been hitting .262/.369/.466 with 14 homers, 55 RBI and six stolen bases over 408 plate appearances in the minor leagues this season. He’ll make his big league debut as soon as he gets into a game with the Giants.

Giants acquired OF Drew Gilbert, RHP Blade Tidwell and RHP José Buttó from the Mets for RHP Tyler Rogers.
Gilbert gives San Francisco a high-upside lottery ticket with a chance to blossom into an everyday outfielder in the not-too-distant future. The 24-year-old former first-round pick was one of the main components of the Justin Verlander trade with the Astros back in 2023. He hasn’t exactly dominated the upper minors, but there’s enough pull-side pop and raw athleticism to dream on.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #71
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Mets are acquiring reliever Tyler Rogers from the Giants.
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman adds that the Mets are sending José Buttó, Blade Tidwell and Drew Gilbert to San Francisco in the deal, which represents a considerable haul. Tidwell is the interesting name given his stuff and Gilbert isn’t far-removed from being one of the premier prospects in the game. Buttó has been exceptional in relief for New York and might wind up being the real prize in the deal. The move comes just a few hours after Rogers’ identical twin brother, Taylor, was shipped to the Pirates. The 34-year-old submariner has been an absolute workhorse for San Francisco the last few years with a whopping 392 appearances dating back to 2019. He’s posted a sparkling 1.80 ERA and 38/4 K/BB ratio across 50 innings (53 appearances) this season. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the year.

Mets OF prospect Drew Gilbert went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI for Triple-A Syracuse.
That’s more like it. When the Mats acquired Gilbert back in 2023 for Justin Verlander, he was the 53rd-ranked prospect in baseball. The last two seasons have not gone well, but the 24-year-old former top prospect is starting to heat up. He’s hitting .333/.406/.649 in July with four home runs, 13 RBI, one steal, and a 7/4 K/BB ratio. It’s highly unlikely he sees MLB at-bats this season, but a strong finish could put him in line for a job in 2026.
