USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports that the Giants “would love” to unload large contracts for players like Rafael Devers, Jung Hoo Lee, Willy Adames, and Matt Chapman.
The Giants made one big move already, sending Patrick Bailey to the Guardians, and it seems like that could just be one step in a full-on rebuild. All of Jung Hoo Lee ($85 million left on his contract), shortstop Willy Adames ($161 million remaining), first baseman Rafael Devers ($226.5 million remaining), and Matt Chapman ($125 million remaining) are owed plenty of money going forward, so the Giants could have plenty of interesting levers to pull as we get closer to the trade deadline.

Jung Hoo Lee is leading off Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Lee finds himself back in the leadoff spot for the second consecutive contest after going 4-for-5 with a triple during Sunday’s series finale against the Marlins. Willy Adames has been dropped to sixth in the order. The 27-year-old has been on a roll recently, hitting .439 (25-for-57) with two homers and five RBI over his last 15 games. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats, especially if he’s going to serve as San Francisco’s table-setting moving forward.

Jung Hoo Lee went 4-for-5 with a triple in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.
Lee very much enjoyed his time against the Marlins this weekend. The 27-year-old picked up nine hits over those three games — with multiple hits in each of them — and he raised his average from .253 to .313 in the process. The triple was the second of the season for the 27-year-old, and he also scored a couple of runs. It’s nice to see a hot run, but Lee’s lack of power (2 HR) and speed (zero teals) makes him a very flawed — at best — fantasy player.

Jung Hoo Lee went 3-for-4 with a solo homer against the Marlins on Friday.
Lee’s .275/.320/.407 line isn’t bad, but with two homers, 10 runs scored, 10 RBI and zero steals, he hasn’t been a fantasy factor thus far. For that to change, he’ll need to try the occasional steal and he’ll have to hope the rest of the Giants lineup gets more productive.

Jung Hoo Lee (quad) is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers.
Lee is back in right field and batting sixth after getting banged up on a slide into home plate during Tuesday’s game at Oracle Park. It doesn’t appear to be a serious concern moving forward.

Jung Hoo Lee isn’t expected to miss much time after departing Tuesday’s game in the eighth inning following a slide at home.
Lee was thrown out at home to end the sixth and then departed prior to the eighth inning. Manager Tony Vitello said a couple of slides recently have left him banged up. If Lee needs a day off Wednesday, Will Brennan could play right field.

Jung Hoo Lee went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in a 3-0 win over the Reds on Thursday.
Lee couldn’t quite hit a launch angle -- these were all singles -- but they were nice to see. Lee now has 10 hits in his last six games, boosting his batting average to .246. He’s essentially only a volume play in NL-only leagues due to the lack of homers and stolen bases.
  • SF Left Fielder #9
Harrison Bader and Jung Hoo Lee are out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Bader and Lee are the notable regulars taking a seat with Jared Oliva getting a chance in center field and Jerar Encarnacion heading out to right field in this one.
  • SF Shortstop #2
Willy Adames is leading off on Monday against the Padres.
This makes it three consecutive different top-of-the-order lineup combinations for first-year skipper Tony Vitello with Adames, who is 1-for-11 at the dish this season, in the leadoff spot after Jung Hoo Lee got a chance following a pair of appearances from contact-oriented specialist Luis Arraez. It’ll be the first time as the top-of-the-order table-setter for Adames this season after mostly hitting second or third last year in his San Francisco debut. The Giants were swept by the Yankees in their season-opening series, scoring just one run combined during the three-game set at Oracle Park.

Jung Hoo Lee is in center field and batting leadoff on Saturday against the Yankees.
The only thing more surprising than seeing Luis Arraez out of the leadoff spot is that he’s batting third in this one behind Matt Chapman and ahead of Rafael Devers. It’s a perplexing lineup from Giants manager Tony Vitello after Arraez led off in back-to-back games to kick off the season.
