Pirates acquired RHP Eliecer Cardenas from the Braves to complete August’s Matt Diaz trade.
The Pirates traded Matt Diaz and cash considerations to the Braves last month for a player to be named later. Cardenas, 23, struggled in Double-A this season, but posted a 0.79 ERA and 75/29 K/BB ratio over 56 2/3 innings with High-A Lynchburg. The Braves chose Cardenas from the Twins in the minor league portion of last December’s Rule 5 Draft.
