The 29-year-old southpaw has done a nice job in 30 appearances with the Tigers this season, compiling a 3.83 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 39/15 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings. Unfortunately, he has logged a heavy workload recently and the Tigers needed to add a fresh arm for a bullpen game on Sunday. De Jesus should get another chance at the MLB level in relatively short order.

De Jesus was away from the team for just a day. The left-hander will return to a middle-inning role with the Tigers.

Congrats to Enmanuel and his growing family. The 29-year-old has a 3.58 ERA in 37 2/3 innings out of the Tigers’ bullpen this season.

The 29-year-old southpaw has pitched well since the beginning of May, posting a 2.01 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and a 21/6 K/BB ratio over 22 1/3 innings over his last 15 appearances with the Tigers. Brenan Hanifee was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

The Tigers had a tough decision to make on who to boot from the bullpen to make room for Jack Flaherty’s return to the rotation on Sunday and it’s De Jesus who draws the short straw. The 29-year-old southpaw has been exceptional since the start of May, posting a 2.01 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and a 21/6 K/BB ratio over 22 1/3 innings over his last 15 appearances. He’ll be back with the big league club in short order.

De Jesus provides Detroit’s bullpen with some additional depth after losing starter Casey Mize to the injured list with an adductor strain. The 29-year-old lefty has allowed 12 runs with a 9/6 K/BB ratio over eight innings this season at the highest level.

De Jesus has been hit hard this season, surrendering 12 runs on 16 hits with a 9/6 K/BB ratio over eight innings of work over six appearances. The 29-year-old lefty was rocked for seven runs – five earned – over 1 1/3 innings during Tuesday’s blowout loss to the Brewers.

Hanifee’s departure at the conclusion of spring training means Enmanuel De Jesus and Brant Hurter secure the final two spots in Detroit’s season-opening bullpen. The 27-year-old righty made a career-high 54 relief appearances for the Tigers last year, finishing with a solid 3.00 ERA and 40/14 K/BB ratio across 60 innings of work.

The 27-year-old slipped while working on his delivery during a workout on Monday and strained his groin. That opens up a path for Enmanuel De Jesus to make the Opening Day roster.

The Tigers needed to add De Jesus to their 40-man roster to keep him from agreeing to a contract overseas, where he pitched for the last two seasons. The 29-year-old has thrown 6 1/3 innings for the Tigers this spring without allowing an earned run. He has allowed just four hits while striking out seven and walking one. There is a chance he wins a spot in the bullpen to open the season.
