Eric Haase went 2-for-3 and hit a grand slam Saturday in the Giants’ 8-2 defeat of the Athletics.
The veteran Haase is competing with Rule 5 pick Daniel Susac and fellow prospect Jesus Rodriguez for the backup catching gig in San Francisco. As such, the A’s probably didn’t mind giving up his grand slam today; if Haase beats out Susac, it becomes a lot more likely that the A’s will be able to reclaim their former first-round pick.

Giants signed C Eric Haase to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 33-year-old backstop spent the 2025 campaign with the Brewers where he slashed an underwhelming .229/.289/.357 with two homers and nine RBI in 77 plate appearances. He’ll add organizational catching depth for the Giants.

Brewers C Eric Haase elected free agency.
Haase was jettisoned from Milwaukee’s catching mix back in late July and stuck around for the rest of the season as emergency depth back at Triple-A Nashville. The 32-year-old backstop offers some appeal in a reserve role, but he’s merely organizational fodder at this advanced stage of his career.

Brewers designated C Eric Haase for assignment.
Haase has been jettisoned from Milwaukee’s active roster to make room for newly acquired backstop Danny Jansen. The 32-year-old catcher posted a lackluster .647 OPS with two homers in 30 games this season in a backup role behind starter William Contreras.

William Contreras is not in the Brewers’ lineup on Wednesday against the Pirates.
It’s just a routine day off for the catcher, but a day off when your teammates are facing Paul Skenes might not be the worst thing in the world. We’d expect Contreras to return to the lineup on Friday against the Rockies, but Eric Haase will catch and hit ninth for the Brewers on Wednesday.

William Contreras is not in the lineup for the Brewers on Wednesday against the Reds.
It’s a routine day off for Contreras with a day game after a night game. Eric Haase will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Eric Haase crushed a solo home run on Tuesday night against the Royals, helping to lead the Brewers to their first victory of the season.
The 32-year-old backstop opened the scoring in this one with his 419-foot (107.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Michael Lorenzen in the third inning. That would be his lone hit in three at-bats on the night, but was all the run support that Chad Patrick and company would require. Haase is now 2-for-5 (.400) with in his limited action to begin the 2025 campaign.

Brewers and C Eric Haase avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract.
Jesse Rogers notes it’s for $1.35 million and can rise with incentives. Haase hit .273/.304/.515 with five homers in 30 games with the Brewers this season. The catcher will likely be the backup backstop to William Contreras for the 2025 campaign.

Eric Haase crushed his first home run as a member of the Brewers on Sunday, helping to lead his squad to a lopsided victory over the Dodgers.
The 31-year-old backstop walloped a 374-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-run shot off of Justin Wrobleski in the fifth inning that extended the Brewers’ early lead to 4-0. He also led off the ninth inning with a single and raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Christian Yelich. With his two-hit attack, Haase is now hitting .455/.455/.727 with a homer and three RBI in his first 11 plate appearances with the Brewers.

Brewers selected the contract of C Eric Haase from Triple-A Nashville.
Haase will be making his season debut after hitting .279/.367/.503 in 41 games in Triple-A. The veteran was originally signed by the Brewers to serve as William Contreras’s backup, but he lost the gig when Gary Sánchez came on board this spring. He’ll place the ailing Sánchez for at least the next eight days.
