Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini has been promoted from High-A Salem to Double-A Portland.
Cecchini batted .350/.469/.547 with five home runs and 15 stolen bases in 63 games with Salem. The 22-year-old third baseman should continue to rise quickly through the Red Sox minor league system. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2010 first-year player draft.
  • KC 1st Baseman #62
Garin Cecchini, a fourth-round draft pick of the Red Sox in 2010, is currently batting .376/.471/.675 with 12 doubles, five home runs and 11 stolen bases through 32 games for High-A Salem this season.
The 22-year-old has also recorded more walks (20) than strikeouts (17) so far. Cecchini’s red-hot start to the season comes on the heels of a breakout 2012 campaign in which he batted .305/.394/.433 with 38 doubles and 51 stolen bases in 118 games for Low-A Greenville. At his current pace, it’s likely that the hot-hitting Cecchini will spend a portion of the 2013 season at Double-A Portland.

Red Sox purchased the contract of 3B Garin Cecchini from Double-A Portland.
One of the more promising hitters in the minors, Cecchini batted .332/.443/.471 with seven home runs, 61 RBI, and 23 stolen bases over 129 games this past season between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland. We’re still waiting on his power, but his ability to hit for average and get on base should carry him to the majors before long.

Brewers sent INF Garin Cecchini outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Cecchini spent all of 2016 at Colorado Springs, hitting and underwhelming .271/.325/.380 with five homers. He’s now off the Brew Crew’s 40-man roster.

Royals signed INF Garin Cecchini to a minor league contract.
The former Red Sox prospect batted just .271/.325/.380 with five home runs and 13 stolen bases in 126 games last season for the Triple-A affiliate of the Brewers. Cecchini, who will turn 26 years old in April, stands 8-for-35 (229) in his career at the major league level.

Red Sox optioned INF Garin Cecchini, OF Bryce Brentz, and RHPs Heath Hembree and Zeke Spruill to Triple-A Pawtucket.
No real surprises here. Cecchini will try to rebuild his prospect stock in 2015 after batting just .263/.341/.371 with seven home runs and 11 stolen bases in 114 games last season at the Triple-A level. He could be trade bait this summer now that Pablo Sandoval is locked in at third base in Boston.

Red Sox prospect LF/3B Garin Cecchini had a huge game Thursday, going 4-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs and three runs scored for Triple-A Pawtucket.
It’s been a rough year for Cecchini, who is batting just .201/.271/.317 with 12 extra-base hits and an uncharacteristically bad 56/15 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 51 games this season. The 24-year-old fared well in his first taste of the major leagues last season, posting a .258/.361/.452 batting line and four extra-base hits in 31 at-bats. A third baseman for most of his career, Cecchini has started only 12 games at the hot corner this season compared to 25 in left field. He’s also appeared at first base in 11 games. Cecchini’s future role with the Red Sox is likely that of a utility player, but he’ll first need to get back on track offensively in Triple-A before getting another look in the big leagues.

Red Sox optioned INF Garin Cecchini from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Cecchini was just called up earlier this week, but he was never expected to stick around for long. The 23-year-old will return to a .263/.344/.329 batting line in Triple-A.

Red Sox prospect 3B Garin Cecchini was 1-for-3 with a grand slam on Thursday for Triple-A Pawtucket.
The 23-year-old also walked and struck out in the game. Cecchini has had a slow month offensively at Pawtucket, as he’s batting .217/.299/.367 with four extra-base hits and a 17-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 games. That said, he’s now hit safely in four straight games, going 5-for-17 (.294) with two extra-base hits, four runs and six RBI during that span. He’s appeared in one game for the Red Sox this season and is likely to return to the majors later in the year.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish hears that the Red Sox are likely calling up prospect infielder Garin Cecchini.
No word on the corresponding roster move. Cecchini had a one-day stint with the big club earlier this month.
