Diamondbacks optioned RHP Gerardo Carrillo to Triple-A Reno.

The writing was on the wall after Carrillo was charged with four runs and recorded only one out in the 10th inning of Monday’s contest against the Royals. Fortunately, the Diamondbacks were able to hang on for the extra-inning win, but it took a remarkable escape by Dennis Santana to make it happen.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Gerardo Carrillo from Triple-A Reno.

Carrillo has a 0.66 ERA in 13 2/3 innings for the D-backs. He’d seem to deserve a full-time spot, but he might only be up until the D-backs need to add a starter Thursday.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Gerardo Carrillo from Triple-A Reno.

Carrillo receives his first promotion to the majors after being added to Arizona’s 40-man roster last weekend. The 27-year-old was one of the ancillary components of the Max Scherzer and Trea Turner deal between the Dodgers and Nationals at the trade deadline back in 2021. He wound up undergoing Tommy John surgery and never pitched in the majors for Washington. He’ll be making his big-league debut when he gets into a game.

Diamondbacks optioned LHPs Mitch Bratt and Kohl Drake, RHPs Juan Burgos and Grant Holman and INF Jose Fernandez to Triple-A Reno; Reassigned RHPs Gerardo Carrillo, Taylor Rashi, Hayden Durke and Junior Fernandez, LHP Spencer Giesting, INFs LuJames Groover, Cristofer Torin and Tommy Troy and OFs A.J. Vukovich and Ryan Waldschmidt to minor league camp.

The most interesting name among this batch of cuts for the Diamondbacks is Ryan Waldschmidt. He had started to gain some steam in fantasy circles as a sleeper candidate, but he was always facing an uphill battle at earning a spot on the Diamondbacks’ Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old hit .240 (6-for-25) with one homer, five RBI and one stolen base during Cactus League play. He should get an opportunity with the Snakes at some point in 2026.

Diamondbacks signed RHP Gerardo Carrillo to a minor league contract.

Carrollo’s claim to fame was his inclusion as one of the ancillary components in the Max Scherzer trade between the Dodgers and Nationals back in 2021. The 27-year-old former prospect never wound up making it to the majors in Washington before being cut loose a couple years later. He made 42 relief appearances in the upper minors for the Rangers this past season in his return from Tommy John surgery. He’s merely organizational relief depth for the Diamondbacks at Triple-A Reno.

Rangers signed RHP Gerardo Carrillo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Carrillo, who was traded from the Dodgers to the Nationals in the Trea Turner and Max Scherzer deal, has spent two years on big league 40-man rosters but has yet to pitch above Double-A. He’ll likely be competing for a spot in the Rangers’ Triple-A bullpen.

Nationals sent RHP Gerardo Carrillo outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Carrillo went unclaimed on waivers and will remain with the Nationals as organizational pitching depth. The 24-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Dodgers as part of the Trea Turner and Max Scherzer blockbuster back at the 2021 trade deadline and has yet to reach the majors.

Nationals designated RHP Gerardo Carrillo for assignment.

Carrillo draws the short straw for the Nationals as the club needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster to re-sign veteran reliever Erasmo Ramírez. The 24-year-old righty was acquired from the Dodgers as part of the Trea Turner and Max Scherzer trade back in 2021 and has yet to reach the majors.
