Reds signed RHP Hagen Danner to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Danner spent last year at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners’ system after being claimed off waivers from the Blue jays prior to spring training. The 27-year-old righty made one relief appearance for Toronto back in 2023 and hasn’t been back to the big leagues ever since. He’s merely organizational depth for the Reds and will likely open at Triple-A Louisville after spring training wraps up.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #65
Mariners sent RHP Hagen Danner outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Danner, who was claimed after being waived by the Blue Jays in January, cleared waivers this time. The 26-year-old reliever gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings in his attempt to win a spot in the Seattle bullpen this spring.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #65
Mariners designated RHP Hagen Danner for assignment.
The Mariners need room on the 40-man roster to select the contract of Luis Castillo. No, not that one. Danner will hit the waiver wire and could be claimed by a pitching-needy club.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #62
Mariners optioned RHPs Blas Castano and Hagen Danner to Triple-A Tacoma; reassigned LHP Josh Fleming to minor league camp.
Even with George Kirby (shoulder) set to open the season on the injured list, it was always unlikely that Castano would break camp with the big league club. He’ll open the season in the rotation at Triple-A Tacoma while Danner and Fleming function as extra bullpen depth for the M’s.

Mariners claimed RHP Hagen Danner off waivers from the Blue Jays.
Danner was designated for assignment after the Blue Jays acquired Josh Walker in Dcember. Danner, 26, posted solid numbers in Buffalo with a 3.06 ERA and 36/13 K/BB over 35 1/3 innings, and could be given a chance to compete for one of the final spots in the Seattle bullpen this spring.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #65
Blue Jays designated RHP Hagen Danner for assignment.
The Jays needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Josh Walker on Friday and unfortunately Danner was the odd-man out this time around. The 26-year-old hurler spent the majority of the 2024 season at Triple-A Buffalo where he posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 36/13 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings. There’s a possibility that he could pique another team’s interest on waivers.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #65
Blue Jays optioned RHP Hagen Danner to Triple-A Buffalo.
Danner is healthy and has pitched well this spring after finishing last year on the injured list with a left oblique strain. The 25-year-old righty will open the year back at Triple-A Buffalo as extra organizational relief depth.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #65
Blue Jays transferred RHP Hagen Danner to the 60-day injured list.
The 24-year-old hurler has been shelved since mid-August due to a left oblique strain. He wasn’t likely to make it back before the end of the season, so the Jays transferred him to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Chad Green (elbow) on Friday.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #65
Blue Jays placed RHP Hagen Danner on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Danner was removed from his major league debut on Friday night against the Cubs with left side discomfort and will most likely wind up sidelined for at least a few weeks. It’ll be Nate Pearson coming up to take his spot in Toronto’s bullpen.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #65
Hagen Danner was pulled from his big league debut on Friday night due to discomfort in his left side.
The 24-year-old hurler came on in the ninth inning with the Jays trailing by four runs, and wound up throwing just seven pitches before he was visited by the training staff and ultimately pulled from the game. He’ll be re-evaluated on Saturday.
