Hanser Alberto announced his retirement from professional baseball.
The 33-year-old infielder hasn’t played in the big leagues since the 2023 season and spent the 2025 campaign in the Mexican League. Over parts of eight major league seasons, Alberto slashed .269/.292/.381 with 22 homers, 137 RBI, 12 stolen bases and a 182/36 K/BB ratio across 1477 plate appearances. Best of luck to Alberto in the next stage of his life.

Hanser Alberto went 4-for-4 with a homer and a walk Sunday as the White Sox crushed the Reds 17-4.
The homer was Alberto’s third in 39 plate appearances, topping his total of two from 255 plate appearances in 2021 and 159 plate appearances last year. He actually hit 12 homers for the Orioles in 2019, but he’s totaled 10 in 244 games since. He should be due to lose some playing time if Yoán Moncada rejoins the White Sox this week as hoped, but with Eloy Jiménez out, the door is open for him to keep starting if he stays hot.
