Brazobán

Brazobán is 36, but he was only eligible for arbitration for the first time as a Super Two player. Despite spending some time in the minors, he had a 3.57 ERA in 63 innings for the Mets last season. He still has one option year left, so he could bounce back and forth again.

With Reed Garrett on the IL and Sean Manaea out on paternity, the Mets needed another bullpen arm. They’ll turn to Brazobán, who has a 3.67 ERA in 56 1/3 innings out of the Mets bullpen this season.

Brazobán heads back to the minors as New York continues to re-shuffle its bullpen mix. The 35-year-old righty has posted a respectable 3.67 ERA across 56 1/3 innings over 47 appearances at the highest level this season.

Brazobán will rejoin the bullpen after 15 days in Triple-A. He has a 3.91 ERA in 53 innings for the Mets this season.

Brazoban underwent an MRI on Wednesday that didn’t reveal any structural damage in his oblique area, so the Mets have officially shipped him back to the minors to bring in a fresh arm.

Brazobán is going to be off the roster regardless of the results of the imaging; the Mets have already recalled Kevin Herget to take his spot on the roster. The question is whether it’s an option to Syracuse of a 15-day injured list sint, and that will be determined in large part by that testing.

Brazobán returns to New York’s relief mix with Frankie Montas hitting the shelf with a UCL injury. The 35-year-old righty has posted a serviceable 3.83 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 51/26 K/BB ratio across 51 2/3 innings (44 appearances, three starts).

Brazoban had to strand the automatic runner after the Mets pushed only one across in the top of the 10th, but he did so without incident. Edwin Díaz pitched the ninth in a tie game and got a victory tonight.
