Nationals reassigned OFs James Wood, Dylan Crews and Robert Hassell III, 3B Brady House, 1B Juan Yepez, LHPs Richard Bleier and Joe La Sorsa and C Israel Pineda to minor league camp.
The trio of Wood, Crews and Hasell are the headliners here with House not too far behind as part of Washington’s likely future nucleus at the highest level. It’s notable that Trey Lipscomb is still in big-league camp with spring training winding down.

Nationals sent C Israel Pineda outright to Triple-A Rochester.
As expected, Pineda went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last weekend following his removal from Washington’s 40-man roster. He’ll remain at Triple-A Rochester as extra organizational catching depth.

Nationals designated C Israel Pineda for assignment.
Pineda has been removed from Washington’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-signed Joey Gallo. The 23-year-old backstop didn’t have much of a clear path to playing time with the Nationals with Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams in the big leagues. There’s a chance he gets scooped up off waivers in the coming days.
  • WSH Catcher #43
Nationals activated C Isreal Pineda from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Double-A Harrisburg.
Pineda was placed on the injured list with a finger injury in early March and dealt with an oblique injury while recovering. The 23-year-old will head to Double-A and serve as organizational depth for the Nationals.

Nationals transferred C Israel Pineda to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Washington’s 40-man roster to summon reliever Rico Garcia ahead of Wednesday’s contest against the Cubs.
  • FA Catcher #43
Israel Pineda is dealing with a left oblique strain.
Pineda suffered the injury earlier this month during his minor league rehab assignment while working his way back from a right finger displacement that’s kept him out since spring training.

  • FA Catcher #43
Israel Pineda (finger) has started a minor league rehab assignment.
Pineda has gotten into a couple rehab games for High-A Wilmington since last week and is still quite far off from being an option against the Nationals. The young backstop landed on the injured list back at the end of spring training with a right finger displacement.

  • FA Catcher #43
Nationals placed C Israel Pineda on the 10-day injured list with right finger displacement.
Pineda suffered the injury when he was hit in the hand by a pitch in early March. The 22-year-old will get a late start on the season and figures to be optioned to the minors once he’s fully-recovered.

  • FA Catcher #43
Israel Pineda (hand) will not break camp with the Nationals and will stay behind for extended spring training.
Pineda was hit on the hand earlier this month and X-rays came back negative for a fracture. The team decided it would be best for the 22-year-old to remain in extended spring training but hasn’t announced if he will be on the 10-day injured list or be optioned to Triple-A.

  • FA Catcher #43
Israel Pineda (hand) has resumed baseball activities.
X-rays came back negative for a fracture after Pineda was hit by a pitch on the hand earlier this month during a spring training contest. The 22-year-old backstop hasn’t been cleared to throw yet, but he’s been able to catch bullpen sessions and participate in all other baseball activities.
