Ivan Johnson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
The home run was a massive shot off of Pirates’ top prospect Bubba Chandler and was also Johnson’s third home run of the season. The Reds have moved the former second baseman to the outfield full-time this season, and he has started the year on fire, going 14-for-36 (.389) with three home runs, three steals, and 11 RBI in 11 games. The 26-year-old had just 13 home runs and 15 steals in 121 minor league games last year, so this may be a mirage, but it’s something to keep an eye on with the Reds’ offense struggling.
