Jaime Barria has signed with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Barria was released by the Guardians last week to pursue an opportunity overseas and will take his talents to Korea in an effort to rebuild his long-term value. The 27-year-old righty has made 134 appearances (62 starts) in the big leagues, all of them for the Angels, dating back to 2018.

    Guardians released RHP Jaime Barria.
The 27-year-old right-hander is close to signing with a club in the Korea Baseball Organization, which is why the Guardians let him out of his minor league deal. Barria registered a 4.81 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 27/6 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings during his time at Triple-A Columbus.

Guardians signed RHP Jaime Barria to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Barria heads to Cleveland to compete in spring training for a spot on the Guardians’ season-opening roster. The 27-year-old right-hander struggled to a lackluster 5.68 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 62/30 K/BB ratio across 82 1/3 innings (34 appearances, six starts) this past season for the Angels. He’ll likely operate in a versatile swingman-type role for Cleveland this upcoming season.

Jaime Barria has elected free agency.
Barria, 27, refused his outright assignment to Triple-A Salt Lake, deciding instead to take his chances on the open market. The right-hander made 34 appearances (six starts) for the Angels during the 2023 season — posting an underwhelming 5.68 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 62/30 K/BB ratio over 82 1/3 innings. Given his versatility, there should be teams interested in him in a swingman type of role — at least on a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Angels activated RHP Jaime Barria from the 15-day injured list.
Barria returns to Los Angeles’ pitching mix following a two-week absence due to right hamstring tightness. The 27-year-old right-hander has registered a lackluster 5.67 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 61/29 K/BB ratio across 79 1/3 innings (32 appearances, six starts) this season in a hybrid role.

Angels placed RHP Jaime Barria on the 15-day injured list with right hamstring tightness.
Barria allowed three runs over three innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Orioles. The 27-year-old righty is unlikely to wind up missing the remainder of the regular season, but is going to be sidelined until mid-September.

Jaime Barria pitched decently in a losing effort against the Padres on Monday night, allowing four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.
The 26-year-old right-hander punched out five batters on the night and didn’t issue a free pass. The Padres jumped on him early in this one, as Xander Bogaerts crushed a three-run homer in the opening inning. They scratched out an additional run in the fourth inning. Barria got 10 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the game — seven of them on his slider — while registering a CSW of 31 percent. He finishes the first half with a strong 3.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 45/16 K/BB ratio over 54 1/3 innings in 18 appearances (six starts).

The Angels have pushed back Shohei Ohtani’s next scheduled start one day, from Monday to Tuesday.
The superstar right-hander is dealing with a cracked fingernail on his pitching hand, so the Angels want to give him an extra day to heal up before taking the hill. He’ll still be taking on the Padres in San Diego, it’ll just be on Tuesday night instead of Monday. Jaime Barria will start on Monday.

Jaime Barria allowed five runs over three innings on Wednesday in a loss against the White Sox.
Barria walked the leadoff man to start the game, then served up a two-run homer to Luis Robert to put the White Sox ahead early. He gave up two more hits in the starting frame, but was able to get out of the inning. Barria gave up another homer to Seby Zavala in the second inning, the two more runs in the third on two doubles and a home run. Barria would get just the three innings on Wednesday before his day was done. The 26-year-old right-hander carries a 2.92 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 40/16 K/BB over 49 1/3 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Padres in San Diego next week.
  • INT Relief Pitcher #56
Jaime Barria pitched three scoreless innings out of the pen Sunday against the Royals.
Barria, the Angels’ sixth starter, was skipped in the rotation with the team having both Monday and Thursday off this week, but he made a nice contribution today, saving a bullpen that was worked hard the previous three days. His ERA sits at 2.14 in four starts and 12 relief appearances.
