Rangers acquired 1B Jake Guenther, 1B Nate Lowe, and a player to be named later from the Rays for INF Oselvis Basabe, C/OF Heriberto Hernandez, and OF Alexander Ovalles.
Guenther was a seventh-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Texas Christian University and went on to post a .320/.431/.423 batting line with two home runs and two stolen bases over his first 48 professional games that year for the Rays’ rookie-level affiliate in the Appalachian League. He turns 24 years old in May and hasn’t seen much professional action but could be a fast mover in the Rangers’ system.
