Braves optioned RHP Hunter Stratton and INF Nacho Alvarez Jr. to Triple-A Gwinnett; Reassigned RHP Javy Guerra and C Chadwick Tromp to minor league camp.
Stratton was always facing an uphill battle at earning a spot in the Braves’ Opening Day bullpen and surrendering six earned runs over 1 1/3 innings during Grapefruit League play sealed the deal for him. Alvarez will open as an everyday player at Triple-A Gwinnett and will most certainly see time with the Braves at some point in 2026. The Braves now have 62 players remaining on the major league side of camp.

Braves signed RHP Javy Guerra to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Guerra returns stateside after spending the past two seasons pitching overseas in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers. The hard-throwing 30-year-old righty last appeared in the majors for the Brewers and Rays when he made 17 relief appearances during the 2023 campaign. He’s an interesting zero-risk lottery ticket for Atlanta as a spring training flyer.

Javy Guerra has signed with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Guerra heads overseas to Japan after making 17 appearances (two starts) this past season between the Rays and Brewers, finishing with a bloated 6.05 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and 14/22 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings of work. The hard-throwing 28-year-old righty has made 61 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2019.

Rays RHP Javy Guerra elected free agency.
The 28-year-old minor leaguer had a 6.05 ERA in 19 1/3 innings with the Rays this season, but he’s had two straight years of success in Triple-A, posting a 4.14 ERA across 37 innings this year with 38 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA across 41 1/3 innings in 2022 with 52 strikeouts. It’s very likely that another organization gives him a look this offseason.

Rays sent RHP Javy Guerra outright to Triple-A Durham.
The 27-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment earlier in the week, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and once again accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Durham. Guerra has registered a 4.09 ERA and a 9/13 K/BB ratio over 11 innings with the big league club this season.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #99
Rays designated RHP Javy Guerra for assignment.
Guerra has a 4.09 ERA in two stints with the Rays this year, but that’s come with a 9/13 K/BB ratio in 11 innings. He cleared waivers back in May. If he does so again this time around, he’ll be eligible to become a free agent.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #99
Rays selected the contract of RHP Javy Guerra from Triple-A Durham.
Guerra has been brought back to the majors with the Rays jettisoning Elvin Rodriguez from their 40-man roster. The hard-throwing 27-year-old righty has pitched well this season in six appearances (three starts) at the big-league level.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #99
Rays sent RHP Javy Guerra outright to Triple-A Durham.
Guerra has accepted the outright assignment, so he’ll remain with the Rays as extra organizational relief depth. He has a 6.75 ERA and a 9/18 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings for the Brewers and Rays this season.

  • ATL Relief Pitcher #99
Rays designated RHP Javy Guerra for assignment.
Guerra returned to the Rays’ organization in late April but was removed from the 40-man roster with Zack Littell taking his place. The 27-year-old had an atrocious 9/18 K/BB ratio and there’s a good chance that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed.

Javy Guerra will work as an opener in front of Josh Fleming for the Rays on Tuesday against the Pirates.
Expect the 27-year-old hurler to work around an inning or so in his return to the Rays before turning the ball over to Fleming to work the bulk innings. Guerra was acquired from the Brewers for a player to be named later on Saturday.
