Malm had an impressive 2.06 ERA and 57/13 K/BB ratio in 48 innings last season between High-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa. Originally drafted as a first baseman and corner outfielder out of a Las Vegas high school, 2017 will be his third year as a pitcher.

The Rangers inked Malm to a minor league deal back in January. The 26-year-old was originally drafted as a first baseman and corner outfielder, but he made the switch to the mound a couple of years back. He had a 2.06 ERA and 57/13 K/BB ratio in 48 innings last season between the Dodgers’ High-A and Double-A affiliates.
