Diamondbacks signed RHP Jonatan Bernal to a minor league contract.
The 22-year-old hurler spent the previous three seasons in the Royals’ organization before pitching for Leones de Yucatan in the Mexican League this year. There he appeared in just three games — posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio over five innings — but it appears to have been enough to catch the eye of the Diamondbacks. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth.

Royals acquired RHP Jonatan Bernal from the Blue Jays for LHP Foster Griffin.
Bernal represents a long-term lottery ticket for the Royals as he’s just 20 years old and has made 14 appearances (seven starts) this season in the Single-A Florida State League.
