Tigers SS/3B prospect Kevin McGonigle is at shortstop and leading off for the American League in Sunday night’s Fall Stars Game in Arizona.
McGonigle has been sizzling-hot in the desert recently, batting .462 (6-for-13) with three homers and seven RBI over his last three games. The 21-year-old prodigy is batting .385/.494/.754 with five round-trippers and three steals across 17 games this fall. He’ll enter next season as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape and should reach Detroit at some point soon. Here’s the full lineup: McGonigle (SS), Braden Montgomery (CF), Max Anderson (3B), Jonny Farmelo (LF), Blake Mitchell (C), Tommy White (1B), Sam Antonacci (2B), Raudi Rodriguez (DH), Enrique Bradfield Jr. (RF) and Luis De Leon (P).
  • SEA Outfield
Mariners OF prospect Jonny Farmelo went 1-for-2 with three walks, a home run, and a stolen base in Arizona Fall League action on Wednesday.
Farmelo was the 29th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, but he has not had a great start to his professional career. He tore his ACL in the middle of his first season in June of 2024 and then returned this season to slash .230/.318/.460 with six home runs and two steals in 29 games at High-A. However, he is already up to three steals in five games in the AFL while going 5-for-16 with one home run and nine RBI. The playing time is the most important thing for Farmelo, and he could be in for a big bounce-back season in 2026.
  • SEA Outfield
Mariners prospect Jonny Farmelo was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his knee and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
The 19-year-old outfielder was ranked as the sixth best prospect in the Mariners’ organization by MLB Pipeline. M’s general manager Justin Hollander told reporters on Saturday that the surgery has yet to be scheduled and that no timeline for his recovery exists just yet.
