Tigers signed first-round pick SS Jordan Yost.
Yost winds up getting $3.25 million reasons to walk away from a commitment to Florida, which is a near full-slot deal for the 24th overall pick, which carried a $3.76 slot value. The 18-year-old prep shortstop was one of the bigger first-round surprises from the 2025 MLB Draft, but Detroit’s success during the Scott Harris era means this might be a worthwhile gamble. He’s several hyperspace jumps from the big leagues, but he’s a name dynasty managers should be watching as he kicks off his professional career.

Tigers selected Sickels HS (FL) SS Jordan Yost with the No. 24 selection of the 2025 MLB Draft.
This is one of the bigger surprises of the draft, as Yost wasn’t considered a consensus first-round selection. He performed well at the combine, however, and the Tigers obviously don’t care what anyone thinks about anything. His line-drive stroke from the right side makes him likely to be a contributor in the average category, and while there isn’t much power projection, he can help compensate with plus speed to steal plenty of bags. Potentially, anyway. Yost is years away, but it’s not hard to see him filling out a few categories near the end of the decade.
