Mets signed RHP José Marte to a minor league contract.
Marte was jettisoned from the Angels’ 40-man roster last October and didn’t end up latching on somewhere else until after spring training. The 28-year-old righty, who looked sharp last year in 14 relief appearances for Los Angeles, is working his way back from shoulder surgery, so this deal will have more of an impact for the Mets in the late stages of the year or next season.

Angels activated RHP Andrew Wantz and RHP José Marte from the 60-day injured list and sent them outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Wantz seemed to have the makings of a quality reliever, but the Angels moved him back to the rotation this year and he ended up undergoing elbow surgery in July. The Angels never did reveal exactly what the surgery was; it didn’t appear to be Tommy John but there is doubt about his readiness for the beginning of 2025. Marte underwent shoulder surgery in September and is also a question mark for next year.

Jose Marte underwent shoulder surgery Saturday.
Marte’s surgery was deemed successful. The 28-year-old will miss the rest of the 2024 season and could compete for a bullpen spot with the Angels in spring training if he’s ready to roll.

Angels transferred RHP Jose Marte to the 60-day injured list.
The 28-year-old hurler has been sidelined since August 8 due to a viral infection and it sounds like it’s serious enough that it’s going to cost him the remainder of the season. Moving him to the 60-day injured list frees up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for Caden Dana who was promoted from Double-A Rocket City on Friday.

Angels placed RHP José Marte on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 8, with a viral infection.
No word yet on how long Marte will be sidelined. The 28-year-old righty boasts a solid 2.33 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14/10 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings (14 appearances) this season for the Angels.

Angels recalled RHP José Marte from Triple-A Salt Lake.
With closer Carlos Estevez shipped off to the Phillies on Saturday, the Angels had an immediate opening in their bullpen that Marte will fill. The 28-year-old right-hander has pitched well in limited action for the Halos this season, posting a 3.55 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and an 8/7 K/BB mark across 12 2/3 innings.

Angels optioned RHP José Marte to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Marte has been shipped back to the minors to make room for Jack Kochanowicz to come up and make his big-league debut on Thursday evening against the Mariners. The 28-year-old righty has posted a 3.55 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 8/7 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings (nine appearances) this season in the big leagues.

Angels selected the contract of RHP José Marte from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Marte hasn’t appeared in the majors since making 25 relief appearances for the Angels from 2021 to 2023. The 28-year-old righty will replace an injured Adam Cimber (shoulder) in Los Angeles’ bullpen. He’s pitched well this season for Triple-A Salt Lake with a 2.61 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20/9 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (20 appearances).

Angels re-assigned RHPs Travis MacGregor, Joel Hurtado, Jose Marte, Carmen Minacci, Alan Rangel and Hayden Sieg, LHPs Nick Jones, Cs Juan Flores and Zach Humphreys, INF Evan White and OFs Nelson Rada and Alberto Rios to minor league camp.
Nothing too surprising among this first large batch of cuts for the Angels. MacGregor, 26, was in camp as a non-roster invitee after posting a respectable 3.82 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and an 84/31 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis for the Pirates in 2023. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him debut in Los Angeles during the upcoming season.

Angels re-signed RHP José Marte to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 27-year-old hurler registered an uninspiring 8.68 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and a 7/7 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings in his 10 appearances with the Angels during the 2023 season. He’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Halos.
