Nationals optioned RHP Josh Karp to Triple-A New Orleans; reassigned RHP Seth Greisinger, RHP Chad Durbin, RHP Luis Pineda, LHP Micah Bowie and LHP Bill Bray to minor league camp.
Some decent depth for New Orleans here. Bray, a 2004 first-round pick, will probably start off in Double-A, but he might have a better chance of pitching in the majors this year than anyone else in the group.

Josh Karp, already sent down by the Nationals, will be used as a reliever at Triple-A New Orleans.
Karp, the sixth overall pick in the 2001 draft, has been a major disappointment the last couple of years. The stuff is there for him to turn things around, but it’s probably not going to happen right away.

Josh Karp worked three scoreless innings Sunday in his first start since being demoted to Double-A Harrisburg.
The Nationals hoped Karp might turn his career around as a reliever, but the sixth overall selection in the 2001 draft had a 5.65 ERA in 28 2/3 IP for Triple-A New Orleans. It appears that he’ll go back to starting now.

Expos prospect Josh Karp pitched three innings for Double-A Harrisburg yesterday in his return from a shoulder injury.

Expos reassigned pitchers Josh Karp and Jose Colon; first baseman Jeff Bailey; and catcher Scott Sandusky to minor league camp.
Karp, the team’s top pitching prospect, pitched one scoreless inning before getting sent down. He’ll probably make it to the majors in the second half of the season.
