Josh Papelbon struck out three in two perfect innings to earn a relief win Monday for low Single-A Greenville.
Papelbon has a 2.19 ERA and five saves as Greenville’s closer. His 2007 season is off to a better start than that of twin brother Jeremy, who has a 6.97 ERA in 10 1/3 innings for the Cubs’ low-A affiliate in Peoria. Jeremy was considered to have the higher ceiling of the two coming out of North Florida, but Josh, as a submarining right-hander with the ability to get plenty of grounders, probably has the better chance of reaching the majors someday. Neither is a fantasy prospect.
