White Sox released RHP Justin Dunn.
Dunn was one of the premier pitching prospects in baseball just a few years ago after the Mets made him the 16th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft. He never quite established himself at the highest level, mostly due to injury, spending time with the Mariners and Reds in the majors from 2019-2022. The 29-year-old was cut loose by Chicago after struggling to a bloated 7.64 ERA across 33 innings (10 appearances, seven starts) this season for Triple-A Charlotte. He should be able to latch on somewhere else, but he’s purely a reclamation project at this stage of his career.

White Sox reassigned RHP Mason Adams, RHP Justin Dunn, RHP Peyton Pallette, RHP Jonathan Heasley, C Kyle Teel, C Edgar Quero, IF Andre Lipcius, OF Cal Mitchell, OF Zach DeLoach and OF Corey Julks to minor league camp.
Teel and Quero are the big names here, as they are two of the top catching prospects in baseball. Both have a chance to make their MLB debut this summer, with Teel being the better bet for fantasy success early on. That’s more compliment to Teel than insult to Quero.

White Sox signed RHP Justin Dunn to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Dunn didn’t pitch in 2024 after undergoing surgery in 2024 on his right shoulder. The former top prospect will head to Chicago in hopes of winning a spot on the Chicago pitching staff, but more than likely the 29-year-old will just provide some organizational depth.

Justin Dunn has elected free agency.
Dunn missed the entire 2023 season due to ongoing shoulder issues and ultimately wound up undergoing surgery in earlier September. The 28-year-old right-hander was an intriguing pitching prospect just a few years ago, but he’s been limited to just seven starts over the last two seasons combined. Despite his health issues, it wouldn’t be shocking to see another organization roll the dice this offseason as a potential reclamation project.

Reds sent RHP Justin Dunn outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Dunn wound up missing the entire 2023 season due to shoulder woes — and ultimately underwent surgery in early September to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. It remains unclear how long he’ll be sidelined of if he’ll be ready to work in some capacity during spring training.

Justin Dunn will undergo surgery to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder.
Dunn has been out all season with a shoulder injury and apparently didn’t bounce back well from his recent attempt from a rehab assignment. There’s no clear timetable for his return at this time. The 27-year-old came over to the Reds in the Jesse Winker deal last March, but he’s only made seven appearances for the club.

Making his first appearance for Triple-A Louisville, Justin Dunn (shoulder) allowed a run in an inning on Tuesday.
He had previously allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings in Arizona as he began his rehab assignment. Dunn’s hardest pitch of the 20 he threw last night checked in at 91.3 mph, which is pretty discouraging. In 11 starts for the Mariners in 2021, he averaged 93.7 mph with his fastball. Unfortunately, Dunn has never been quite right since the Reds acquired him. There’s a good chance he’ll find himself bumped from the 40-man soon.

Justin Dunn (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday.
Dunn has missed the entire season due to a right shoulder injury and has been dealing with persistent shoulder issues for the last few years. There’s an outside shot he’s ready to contribute for the Reds at some point next month. He’ll kick off his rehab assignment with the Reds’ Rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

Reds placed RHP Justin Dunn on the 60-day injured list with a right shoulder injury.
Dunn was shut down earlier this month with inflammation in his right rotator cuff and can now be ruled out through late May. He’s dealt with nagging shoulder problems dating back to 2021, so it’s hard to say when he might be ready to pitch again.

Justin Dunn (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for a couple of months.
There isn’t an exact timetable for Dunn to return, but the expectation is that he’ll be able to pitch at some point later this season. The 27-year-old righty is dealing with inflammation in his right rotator cuff, but the positive news is that a specialist didn’t recommend surgery, which likely would’ve been season-ending. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him to return until the second half of the year.
