Kevin Brown was selected as the American League Pitcher of the Month.
He was 4-0 with a 2.70 ERA over 40 innings pitched. The only thing that can derail Brown this season is an injury. At the age of 39, he is still an elite pitcher.

Kevin Brown will likely make one more start before the end of the regular season.
The Yankees will consider starting him tomrrow, Friday or on the weekend. The team will be hoping for better results than his terrible performance against the Red Sox on Sunday when he gave up four runs in just two-thirds of an inning. If Brown pitches no better this time out, his roster spot for the playoffs would be in jeopardy.

Kevin Brown (broken left hand) remains out of action indefinitely.
There has been no date set to remove the pins holding the broken bone in his hand together. With only two weeks left in the 2004 campaign, it is looking more and more as if Brown will not be able to pitch again this season.

Kevin Brown, who had the pins removed from his broken left hand yesterday, will throw in the bullpen at Fenway Park tonight.
If all goes well, Brown will then pitch in a simulated game on Sunday and could be ready to pitch in a real game out of the bullpen early next week. If Brown gets through all of that without any problems, he may be able to start in one of New York’s last three games of the season.

Kevin Brown (broken left hand) will attempt to throw from a mound today.
He had to cut Saturday’s throwing session short due to pain in his broken left hand. Brown is still hoping to be able to make at least one start before the season ends.

For the second time this week, Kevin Brown called off a throwing session due to pain in his broken left hand.
He was supposed to pitch from a mound yesterday but his left hand was bothering him too much. This past Saturday Brown cut a throwing session short due to pain in the hand. It is looking more and more as if Brown will not be abe to return to action before the end of the season.

Kevin Brown is hoping to have the two pins removed from his broken left hand this Friday.
If he does, there is still a chance Brown could make one start before the season ends. The key will be whether he can put on his glove and catch the ball without too much pain.

Manager Joe Torre will decide today if Kevin Brown will return on Sunday.
Torre said he saw “no problems” with Brown’s bullpen session yesterday, when he threw 70-plus pitches with no pain.

The Yankees confirmed yesterday that Kevin Brown did in fact have a cortisone shot in his lower back on Monday.
It is the second shot Brown has received in the last two months. The veteran right-hander is scheduled to make his regular start tomorrow night against the Blue Jays. Keep an eye on this situation.

The Yankees are trying to devise a pitching program for Kevin Brown.
Brown, who switched to a lighter and more flexible cast for his broken left hand yesterday, could resume throwing in a matter of days. If all goes well, it may be possible for the right-hander to pitch before the season is over, although that still remains a longshot. The Yankees are also looking into whether they can and should fine Brown for his actions. Stay tuned.
