Astros acquired LHP Kevin Chapman and a player to be named from the Royals for C Humberto Quintero and OF Jason Bourgeois.
Jason Castro is healthy and the Astros added Chris Snyder as a backup over the winter, so cashing in on Quintero made sense. J.B. Shuck or Justin Ruggiano are now likely to replace Bourgeois on the Astros’ bench. Chapman has a 5.06 ERA in the minors and has struggled with his command and control, but he also throws hard and has averaged 12.4 K/9. The 24-year-old left-hander has a chance to make it as middle reliever.
