Kevin Olsen has resumed throwing and said he expects to be able to pitch again this season.
Olsen has been out since being struck in the head by a line drive at Boston on June 27. ''I’m getting better,’' said Olsen, who suffered a concussion. ''My arm feels good. But every time I throw, it looks like the person I’m throwing to is shaking. But that’s to be expected.’'

Pirates signed RHP Kevin Olsen to a minor league contract.
Olsen is a lesser version of Brian Meadows. And anyone who is a lesser version of Brian Meadows belongs in Triple-A.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher
Marlins sent RHP Kevin Olsen outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Back in 2001, Olsen looked about as good as a finesse right-hander can look. Because he’s regressed since then, he’ll probably have a tough time getting another opportunity. He’s ideally suited for pitching in Florida, so if he can’t succeed with the Marlins, no one else is going to want to give him a chance.

Marlins recalled RHP Kevin Olsen from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Olsen spent some time on the disabled list, but once healthy, he posted a 2.11 ERA in seven starts for Albuquerque. He should be a fine reliever for Florida, and he’d be a better option as a fifth starter than Michael Tejera.

Kevin Olsen left tonight’s game in the seventh inning after taking a line drive off his head.
Olsen appeared to be hit near his right ear and had to be taken off on a stretcher. He’ll be taken to the hospital for an examination.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher
Kevin Olsen will be kept in the hospital overnight, but it appears that he will be fine.
Olsen, who was hit just behind his right ear by a line drive, isn’t seriously hurt. Still, he could wind up on the DL, especially since the Marlins will need to call up reliever after allowing 25 runs tonight.

Marlins placed RHP Kevin Olsen on the 15-day disabled list with a concussion and laceration to the right ear.
Olsen is expected to be OK after being hit by a line drive last night, but he’s going to need some time off. The Marlins couldn’t afford to keep him on the active roster after last night’s massacre.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher
Marlins transferred RHP Kevin Olsen from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Olsen still hopes to return from a concussion in September. The switch to the 60-day DL won’t necessarily prevent that from happening.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher
Kevin Olsen gave up one hit in four scoreless innings for Single-A Jupiter on Friday.
Olsen is due back early next month, but he’ll probably be just a mop-up man for the Marlins.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher
Marlins activated RHP Kevin Olsen from the 60-day disabled list.
Olsen will be used in a mop-up role for the rest of the month.
