Rockies signed RHP Kyle Johnston to a minor league contract.

The 26-year-old hurler was cut loose by the Blue Jays after posting a 5.95 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 20/13 K/BB ratio across 19 2/3 innings in the minor leagues. He’ll add pitching depth in the upper minors for the Rockies.

Johnston, 23, had a 4.03 ERA and 100/37 K/BB ratio in 105 innings over 20 starts with High-A Potomac this season. A sixth-round pick from 2017, he was ranked as Washington’s No. 27 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
