Landen Roupp yielded three runs in four innings and struck out five Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Roupp has been up about one mph from last year this spring, though that could be a little deceptive; he was also up in this territory at the beginning of last year before fading in May and June. Still, it’s been a rather encouraging spring with his 4.15 ERA and 15/7 K/BB in 13 innings. He could be at least a streaming option in mixed leagues next month.

Landen Roupp wasn’t at his best during Friday night’s Cactus League loss to the Reds, giving up two runs on four hits over his three innings of work.
Roupp punched out four opposing hitters in the contest but also issued three free passes. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as JJ Bleday smacked a two-run single. Roupp got five swings and misses on 64 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 23 percent. He has done a nice job overall this spring, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio across nine innings in his first four appearances.

Landen Roupp fired two scoreless innings on Monday against the White Sox.
Roupp appears to have a firm grip on the fifth spot in San Francisco’s rotation after accumulating a career-high 106 2/3 innings over 22 starts last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury in late August. The 27-year-old righty will need to miss a few more bats in order to be a relevant mixed-league contributor but he’s a name to watch on the early-season waiver wire for matchup purposes in deeper formats.

Landen Roupp pitched a hitless inning, striking out two, Tuesday against the Angels.
Roupp is being brought along just a tad slowly this spring after missing the end of last year with a bone bruise in his left knee, but he was strong today; all of his pitches were up a tad more than one mph from last year. He’s the clear favorite to serve as the Giants’ fifth starter if he can get through March without incident.

Landen Roupp faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.
Roupp appears on track for a normal spring training after suffering a season-ending bone bruise in his left knee last August. The 27-year-old righty is vying for one of the final spots in San Francisco’s rotation this spring after posting a serviceable 3.80 ERA — 4.25 xERA — 1.48 and 102/45 K/BB ratio across 106 2/3 innings over 22 starts last year. He’ll need to beat out prospects Carson Whisenhunt, Blade Tidwell and swingman Hayden Birdsong to lock up a rotation spot. There’s some appeal in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Landen Roupp (knee) threw a bullpen session on Friday in San Francisco.
The expectation had been that Roupp would miss the remainder of the season due to a bone bruise in his left knee, but the fact that he’s back up and throwing already could potentially change that. It still seems unlikely, but there’s at least a chance that we could see the 27-year-old hurler once again before the 2025 season comes to a close.

Landen Roupp has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.
It’s an extremely encouraging update as multiple medical evaluations determined that Roupp didn’t tear his ACL when his left knee planted awkwardly during last Wednesday’s start against the Padres. The 26-year-old won’t have enough time to ramp up and make it back this season, but he should be fully healthy and in the mix for a spot in San Francisco’s rotation next spring.

Giants placed RHP Landen Roupp on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 21, with left knee inflammation.
The extremely encouraging development here is that it appears Roupp didn’t suffer a more serious knee injury when he had to be carted off the field during Wednesday’s start against the Padres. The 26-year-old righty is likely done for the remainder of the season, but the fact that an initial MRI didn’t reveal an ACL tear or structural damage puts him on track to be ready for spring training. He’ll likely undergo further testing, but the initial diagnosis is encouraging.

The Giants are promoting pitching prospect Carson Whisenhunt from Triple-A Sacramento.
Whisenhunt will take the ball for Friday’s series opener against the Brewers with Logan Webb being pushed back for some extra rest. The 24-year-old southpaw, who made three starts earlier this season for San Francisco, will take the rotation spot of Landen Roupp, who suffered an apparent serious left knee injury during Wednesday’s start against the Padres. He offers enough strikeout potential to be worth monitoring in deeper mixed leagues, but he’s more of a wait-and-see prospect in shallow formats.

Landen Roupp was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Padres with an apparent left knee injury.
Roupp was carted off the field after appearing to twist his left knee attempting to avoid a third-inning line drive. It would be premature to draw any firm conclusions, but this looked like a potentially serious knee injury. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point soon.
