Mariners reassigned RHPs Tyler Cleveland and Michael Morales, OFs Lazaro Montes and Spencer Packard, and C Nick Raposo to minor league camp.
The 21-year-old Montes is one of Seattle’s top prospects, but he hit just 4-for-25 in 11 spring training games with a 10/1 K/BB ratio. He also hit .213/.319/.433 with 14 home runs and a 30.5 percent strikeout rate in 64 Double-A games to end the 2025 season. He will likely head back there to start the 2026 season.

Mariners OF prospect Lazaro Montes crushed two homers on Friday for Double-A Arkansas.
Montes has busted out of a recent slump with a pair of multi-homer performances over the past week to move into a tie for the minor league-lead with 31 big flies this season. The power-hitting 20-year-old prospect remains a work in progress in the upper minors, but the stratospheric raw power upside is undeniable.

Mariners OF prospect Lazaro Montes clobbered a three-run homer on Friday for Double-A Arkansas.
Montes has homered three times in his last four games and is second in the entire minors with 24 big flies this season. The 20-year-old masher’s over-the-fence pop is real and he’s holding his own since being promoted to the Double-A level back in late June with a 1.075 OPS through 16 games. He has a real shot at finishing the year as one of the top 25 prospects in the dynasty landscape.

Mariners promoted OF prospect Lazaro Montes and 2B prospect Michael Arroyo to Double-A Arkansas.
Montes has torn the cover off the ball this season with a Northwest League-leading 18 home runs through 67 games. The 20-year-old slugging prospect has registered an impressive .268/.387/.572 triple-slash line for High-A Everett and will get his first taste of the upper minors as one of the youngest everyday players in the Texas League. He’s a top-30 range prospect for dynasty purposes with a real chance to finish closer to the top-20 range if he keeps hitting at the Double-A level. Meanwhile, Arroyo has hit .269/.422/.512 with 15 homers and three steals through 65 games. He’s one of the highest-ceiling future power sources at the keystone and is a surefire top-50 dynasty prospect at this stage of his development.

Mariners OF prospect Lazaro Montes went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Friday for High-A Everett.
Montes connected for his Northwest League-leading 11th round-tripper of the season on Friday evening with a titanic blast that left his bat at an impressive 114 mph. The 20-year-old corner outfielder will need to tear the cover off the ball as a bat-first prospect to make a significant fantasy impact down the road, but he’s doing everything he can to outperform expectations this season with a robust .966 OPS at the High-A level.

Mariners OF prospect Lazaro Montes crushed a two-run homer on Saturday for High-A Everett.
Montes crushed his Northwest League-leading fourth round-tripper of the season on Saturday as his torrid start to the year continues. The 20-year-old slugger has flashed impressive over-the-fence pop and hasn’t had any trouble handling High-A pitching so far, batting .269/.409/.615 with eight extra-base hits, 11 RBI and two steals through 14 games.
