Padres signed RHP Luis Diaz to a minor league contract.
Diaz, 23, has spent his first seven professional seasons bouncing around the minor leagues in the Red Sox organization. He made 27 starts for Double-A Portland in 2015, compiling a 5.47 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 86/59 K/BB ratio over 136 2/3 innings. He’ll provide organizational rotation depth for the Padres.
