Angels placed RHP Luis Garcia on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 25, with an undisclosed injury.
It’s unclear what the 38-year-old hurler is dealing with, but he’ll miss the final two games of the regular season. He finishes the year with a 3.42 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 48/26 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings between the Dodgers, Nationals and Angels. Sammy Peralta was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move on Saturday.

Luis Garcia notched his second save of the season on Saturday night, navigating a tumultuous yet scoreless ninth inning against the Rockies to preserve a three-run advantage.
With Kenley Jansen not traveling with the team over the weekend, it was up to Garcia to close it out with a three-run lead in the ninth inning. After retiring Tyler Freeman on a ground ball to start the inning, he made things awfully interesting by loading the bases on a pair of singles and a walk. He then got Jordan Beck to ground into a game-ending double play to put it in the win column for the Halos. On the season, the 38-year-old hurler now boasts a 3.48 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 48/25 K/BB ratio over 54 1/3 innings while recording two wins and a pair of saves.

Angels’ closer Kenley Jansen told reporters on Thursday that he will not be traveling with the team for their weekend series against the Rockies in Colorado.
Jansen has routinely skipped series in Colorado due to his heart condition in recent years and with the Angels having nothing to play for at this stage of the season there’s no reason for him to risk it by going there. Look for Luis Garcia to potentially fill in should the Angels have a lead to protect in the ninth inning over the weekend.

Luis García notched his first save with a perfect ninth Wednesday against the Reds.
García filled in for the injured Kenley Jansen after Reid Detmers worked a scoreless eighth. It’s his 16th career save in 592 appearances over 13 big-league seasons. Four of those came with the Angels last year before he was traded to the Red Sox. He’s allowed one run in eight innings since he rejoined the Halos after being acquired from the Nationals at the deadline.

Angels acquired RHP Luis García from the Nationals in a four-player trade.
García pitched well after signing with the Nationals with 0.90 ERA over 10 appearances with Washington. The 38-year-old will give the Angels bullpen a boost in the mid-to-late innings for the remainder of 2025.

Andrew Golden of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals are trading pitchers Andrew Chafin and Luis Garcia to the Angels.
The Nationals will acquire left-handed pitcher Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown in the deal, per Golden. Chafin has been a solid relief option for Washington at the age of 35, and he and Garcia will both provide middle-inning help for a team that is closer to contention than anyone could have imagined to begin 2025.

Nationals signed RHP Luis García to a one-year contract.
García winds up latching on with Washington just a few days after being jettisoned from the Dodgers’ crowded bullpen mix. The well-traveled 38-year-old veteran reliever posted a bloated 5.27 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 24/16 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings (28 appearances) earlier this year for Los Angeles. He’ll likely operate in middle relief for the Nationals and can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.

    Dodgers released RHP Luis García.
The 38-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment last weekend. He passed through waivers unclaimed and rather than assigning him outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City, the club granted him his release. It’s unclear if García plans to pursue opportunities elsewhere, or if this could be the end of the line for him. He posted a 5.27 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and a 24/16 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings during his time with the Dodgers.

Dodgers designated RHP Luis García for assignment.
García made Los Angeles’ season-opening bullpen but has struggled to a lackluster 5.27 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 24/16 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (28 appearances) this season in his Dodgers debut. The 38-year-old veteran reliever figures to pass through waivers unclaimed, but should be able to latch on somewhere else as emergency organizational depth.

Dodgers activated RHP Luis García from the 15-day injured list.
Garcia had been on the IL since June 1 with a right adductor strain. The 38-year-old had a 4.50 ERA in 26 appearances before going down, so he’ll likely be in a rather low-leverage role initially.
