Cubs claimed LHP Luis Peralta off waivers from the Cardinals; optioned him to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cardinals had just claimed him from the Rockies six days ago. Peralta, 25, has a 6.03 ERA in 31 1/3 innings major league innings, all with Colorado. He’s opened this year by walking 13 and giving up 14 runs in 7 1/3 innings in Triple-A.

Cardinals designated LHP Luis Peralta for assignment.
It’s Peralta’s second DFA in two weeks as he was jettisoned from the Rockies and claimed by the Cardinals in April. Peralta did not officially get into a game for any of the Cardinals affiliates. He had a 17.18 ERA for Triple-A Albuquerque in six appearances in 2026 before the Rockies designated him for assignment.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #41
Cardinals claimed LHP Luis Peralta off waivers from the Rockies.
Peralta will report to Triple-A Memphis as organizational depth for St. Louis. The 25-year-old southpaw hasn’t pitched in the big leagues this season after making 37 relief appearances for the Rockies over the previous two years.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #41
Rockies designated LHP Luis Peralta for assignment.
It clears room on the 40-man roster for Blas Castaño, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners on Tuesday. Peralta will now hit the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed, he’ll likely report back to Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #45
Rockies optioned LHPs Carson Palmquist, Luis Peralta and Welinton Herrera, RHP Gabriel Hughes and OF Sterlin Thompson to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Palmquist, 25, appeared in nine games for the Rockies in 2025 where he compiled an uninspiring 8.91 ERA and 2.04 WHIP across 34 1/3 innings. Given the Rockies’ overall lack of pitching depth, he’ll probably get another shot at the big league level at some point during the 2026 season.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #41
Rockies activated LHP Luis Peralta from the 15-day injured list.
Peralta will finish the year in Colorado’s bullpen after a minimum stay on the shelf with left hip inflammation.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #41
Rockies placed LHP Luis Peralta on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 8, with left hip inflammation.
The Rockies were taking things day-to-day with the 24-year-old southpaw but it got to the point where they couldn’t afford to play short-handed any longer. Ryan Rolison was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place in the Rockies’ bullpen.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #41
Rockies recalled LHP Luis Peralta from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Peralta gets another shot with the Rockies with fellow southpaw Ryan Rolison earning a demotion after a couple tough outings. The 24-year-old lefty has been crushed to the tune of a bloated 7.56 ERA across 8 1/3 innings (nine appearances) this season at the highest level. He’ll operate in middle relief for Colorado.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #41
Rockies optioned LHP Luis Peralta to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies are keeping Jaden Hill, who was called up as the 27th man for Sunday’s doubleheader. Peralta allowed three runs over two-thirds of an inning in the first game yesterday to up his ERA to 7.56. He had a 5/8 K/BB in 8 1/3 innings out of the pen.
  • COL Relief Pitcher
Rockies selected the contract of LHP Luis Peralta from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The younger brother of Freddy Peralta, Luis was acquired by the Rockies at the trade deadline in a trade for Jalen Beeks. Peralta has a 0.94 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings between three different minor league levels this year. While those numbers are eye-popping, Peralta started just one game in his six minor league appearances with the Rockies so we assume he’ll be used out of the bullpen in Colorado.
