The Astros optioned OF Kenedy Corona to minor-league camp; reassigned C Luke Berryhill and OF Quincy Hamilton to minor-league camp.
Corona will start off the 2024 season in the minors after he went 4-for-13 with four singles and three walks in nine spring games. He spent most of his 2023 season at the Double-A level where he slashed .244/.325/.449 with 20 homers and 61 RBI. He’ll continue to be an outfield depth option for Houston.
  • Astros acquired C Luke Berryhill from the Reds for LHP Cionel Perez.
The Astros were forced to make a 40-man roster move in order to make the Michael Brantley signing official, so rather than designating Perez for assignment, they flipped him to the Reds instead. Berryhill, 22, was a 13th round selection of the Reds from the 2019 draft. He’ll add catching depth for the Astros in the lower levels of the minors.
