Brewers signed RHP Lyon Richardson to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old hurler elected free agency last week after the Reds sent him outright to Triple-A Louisville. Richardson holds a 4.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 34/14 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add extra bullpen depth for the Brewers.

Reds outrighted RHP Lyon Richardson to Triple-A Louisville.
He refused the assignment, becoming a free agent. The 26-year-old had a 4.54 ERA in 37 2/3 innings out of the Reds pen last year and was performing reasonably at Triple-A Louisville before a brief call-up to cover innings for Chase Burns’ illness. Richardson will likely catch on elsewhere in the next few days.

Reds designated RHP Lyon Richardson for assignment.
Richardson had a rough outing on Monday, allowing four runs on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. That may have been his final outing as a member of the Reds. Richardson will likely clear waivers, and he can opt to re-sign with the Reds on a minor league deal if he wants.

Chase Burns was scratched from Monday’s start against the Royals due to illness.
Lyon Richardson draws the starting assignment to open a bullpen game for Cincinnati. Burns is expected to take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale after getting some extra time to rest and recover. The hard-throwing 23-year-old rookie struck out eight over 5 1/3 innings to pick up a win over the Mets his last time out. He’s compiled a stellar 1.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 72/20 K/BB ratio across 64 1/3 innings over 11 starts this season. Simply put, he’s one of the most electric young arms in baseball.

Reds sent RHP Lyon Richardson outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Richardson went unclaimed on waivers earlier this week after being jettisoned from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster back in late December. The 25-year-old reliever will compete for a spot in the club’s season-opening bullpen during camp after posting a respectable 4.54 ERA — 4.06 FIP — and 30/21 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings over a career-high 34 appearances this past season at the big-league level.
