Richardson went unclaimed on waivers earlier this week after being jettisoned from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster back in late December. The 25-year-old reliever will compete for a spot in the club’s season-opening bullpen during camp after posting a respectable 4.54 ERA — 4.06 FIP — and 30/21 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings over a career-high 34 appearances this past season at the big-league level.

Richardson pitched once in eight days during his latest stint with the Reds, giving up three runs in an inning on Sept. 3. He has a 4.54 ERA in 37 2/3 major league innings on the season.

Richardson has a 3.93 ERA and 30/20 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for Cincinnati this season. He will provide bullpen depth for the next few weeks.

Richardson is allowed to make a quick return to the majors with Tyler Callihan going on the injured list. Richardson has allowed one run in four innings of relief for the Reds this season.
