Mariners signed RHP Michael Fulmer to a minor league contract.
Fulmer heads to Seattle as emergency organizational relief depth after being released earlier this week by the Royals. The well-traveled 32-year-old veteran made three relief appearances earlier this season between the Cubs and Red Sox.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #49
Royals signed RHP Michael Fulmer to a minor league contract.
Fulmer elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Cubs, and he finds a new home just a couple of days later. The 32-year-old will need to be added to the 40-man roster to pitch for the Royals, but if he impresses in the PCL that isn’t out of the question.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #49
Cubs RHP Michael Fulmer has elected free agency.
Fulmer will hit the open market in search of a new opportunity after refusing an outright assignment to Triple-A Iowa. The 32-year-old reliever went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week by the Cubs. He made just two relief appearances during a brief stint with Chicago.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #49
Cubs designated RHP Michael Fulmer for assignment.
Fulmer was brought up to the active roster on Monday and threw three shutout innings while allowing two hits and striking out one. With Shota Imanaga back from injury, the Cubs needed a roster spot and decided to move on from Fulmer. He’ll likely latch on with somebody else or look for another chance with the Cubs.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #51
Cubs selected the contract of RHP Michael Fulmer from Triple-A Iowa.
Fulmer gets the call to Chicago after signing a minor league contract back in late April. The 32-year-old righty made one relief appearance earlier this year for the Red Sox before being cut loose. He’ll likely operate in middle relief out of the Cubs’ bullpen.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #51
Cubs signed RHP Michael Fulmer to a minor league contract.
Fulmer elected free agency Sunday after he was designated for assignment and sent outright to Triple-A by the Red Sox. The 32-year-old will likely report to Iowa, and a good showing there could make him a part of the Cubs’ bullpen over the summer. He’ll likely have an opt-out to the deal if Chicago doesn’t deem him worthy of such promotion.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #51
Michael Fulmer has elected free agency.
The 32-year-old hurler was sent outright to Triple-A Worcester after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox earlier in the week, but Fulmer refused the assignment and will instead peddle his wares on the open market. The right-hander gave up three runs on four hits and a pair of walks in 2 2/3 innings in his lone appearance with the Red Sox.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #51
Red Sox designated RHP Michael Fulmer for assignment.
Fulmer is removed from the active and 40-man roster to make room for Hunter Dobbins. Fulmer, 32, will now hit the waiver wire, but there’s a good chance he’ll go unclaimed. He’ll then need to decide if he wants to report back to Triple-A, or elect free agency.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #51
Red Sox selected the contract of RHP Michael Fulmer from Triple-A Worcester.
Fulmer hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2023 campaign, but he’s getting the call to augment Boston’s injury-depleted mix ahead of Sunday’s series finale in Chicago. The 32-year-old righty is unlikely to make a significant impact for fantasy purposes, especially with both Brayan Bello (shoulder) and Lucas Giolito (hamstring) close to making it back from the injured list.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #51
Michael Fulmer threw four scoreless innings for Triple-A Worcester, allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking nobody.
This is noteworthy because the expectation had been that Fulmer would remain in the bullpen for the Red Sox, but that does not appear to be the plan. Perhaps because of injuries to Lucas Giolito, Brayan Bello, and Kutter Crawford, Boston is keeping Fulmer stretched out to either be a starter or a long reliever. The 32-year-old also displayed a new pitch mix on Sunday, relying heavily on his cutter and sweeper while topping out at 93.6 mph on his four-seam fastball.
