Givens

Givens signed a minor league pact with the Marlins back in early March and never wound up making it to Miami. The 33-year-old side-winding reliever has made 425 career appearances in the majors since 2015.

Givens will get some extra time to fully ramp up in the minors after signing with the Marlins a couple weeks ago. The 33-year-old side-wider figures to pitch in middle relief for Miami at some point this season.

Givens was limited to four innings in 2023 after suffering a shoulder injury and was released by the Orioles in late August. He should give the Marlins reliever depth in the upper minors.

Givens had been working his way back from a shoulder injury before being designated for assignment by the Orioles last week. He will look to land a job with another team but he might have to wait until the offseason to ink a deal.

Givens has been out since early June with a shoulder injury and has only pitched four innings in the majors this year. He has been a reliable reliever in the past so there is a chance a team claims him off waivers.

Givens has been out since early June due to a shoulder issue and is likely going to need several weeks to get back up to speed before being an option for Baltimore’s bullpen mix.

Givens is presumably going to be sidelined for an extended period after experiencing shoulder soreness during a minor league rehab appearance last week for Double-A Bowie. He’s yet to pitch this season due to a lingering knee issue.

Not good. However, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said there is a low level of concern. Givens has been sidelined since May 21 due to inflammation in his right shoulder and posted an 11.25 ERA before the injury.

He’ll pitch in that game and then join Triple-A Norfolk for Friday’s contest. After a couple of outings in his rehab assignment, he’s expected to be cleared to return to the Orioles’ bullpen. Givens -- who has been sidelined since May 21 due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder -- had registered an 11.25 ERA, 2.50 WHIP and a 2/6 K/BB ratio in four innings before landing on the injured list.

Givens just returned from a stint on the injured list on May 21, but he’ll head back there while battling a balky right shoulder. Bruce Zimmermann was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move on Friday to take his place in the O’s bullpen.
