Walters was released by the White Sox earlier this month and will head to the Nationals as extra organizational relief depth. The 26-year-old righty made one appearance last year for the Angels.

Walters made one relief appearance last year for the Angels and struggled to a bloated 9.64 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 44/17 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (27 appearances) this season in the upper minors of Chicago’s system.

Walters, a long-time Brewers prospect, made his major league debut with the Angels last season, pitching one-third of an inning. Control problems have kept him from establishing himself, but he’s fine Triple-A relief depth.

Walters re-signed with the Angels last December a couple weeks after being non-tendered by the organization. The 25-year-old righty made one relief appearance last year for Los Angeles.

Walters returns to the Angels’ organization just a few weeks after being non-tendered in a flurry of roster moves. The 25-year-old right-hander sipped a quick cup of coffee last September, making one relief appearance for Los Angeles before the regular season wrapped up. He’ll continue to serve as organizational relief depth.

The 25-year-old hurler made his long-awaited big league debut with the Angels in 2022 -- but wound up throwing just 1/3 of an innings -- allowing a hit and a walk in the process. He has good enough stuff to have a future in a big league bullpen if he’s able to cut back on the free passes.

The Angels picked Walters up in September after the Brewers let him go, and he made one appearance for the team, retiring one of the three batters he faced. His cutter-slider mix might yet prove useful in relief, but first, he’ll need to cut down on the walks.

Walters takes the place of Archie Bradley on the roster after Bradley was diagnosed with a forearm strain. The 25-year-old was acquired from Milwaukee for cash considerations at the start of September. This will be an audition for Walters to possibly contribute in 2023.

The Angels acquire the 25-year-old hurler and add him to their 40-man roster, but he’ll start out his Angels career at Triple-A Salt Lake. Walters has posted a 4.47 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 66/15 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings at Triple-A Nashville this season.
