He threw one inning of relief for Atlanta earlier in the season, but they could certainly use him in the rotation now after injuries to Chris Sale and Spencer Schwellenbach. We’ll see if Wiles can stick in the rotation after the All-Star break.

Wiles made his major league debut Tuesday night, but instead of starting or serving as a bulk guy, he gave up three runs in the final inning of the 10-4 loss to the Cardinals. His career ERA will stand at 27.00 until he gets another chance.

It’s the first MLB callup for Wiles, a former Rays prospect acquired by the Braves this spring. The 26-year-old righty had a 0.64 ERA in 14 innings over three starts for Gwinnett. Expectations are that he’ll pitch tonight, though he might not start. The Braves have the opening tonight as a result of Spencer Strider’s injury.
