According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, the Astros have signed right-handed reliever Peter Moylan to a minor league contract. The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training.
Moylan became a free agent last month after he was designated for assignment by the Dodgers. The soon-to-be 35-year-old had a 6.46 ERA in 14 appearances at the major league level this past season and spent most of the year in Triple-A. We haven’t heard much from him since back and shoulder surgeries in 2011, but the Astros will hope for a bounceback out of their bullpen.
Here’s Moylan’s reaction to his latest opportunity:
I have a job next year!!!!!
