Corey Hart wins his arbitration

It was just announced that Corey Hart has won his arbitration with the Brewers. He had asked for $4.8 million and now he gets it. The Brewers had argued for $4.15 million.

Arbitration is a lot more complicated than simply saying “well, he didn’t have a good year last year, so he don’t get no raise,” so the fact that Hart only hit .260/.335/.418 with 12 home runs in 472 at-bats last season doesn’t necessarily mean this was a bad decision. Indeed, the fact that he won means that, at some point, some other owner or arbitration panel has given a guy with similar production the same kind of dough.
